Coach Ken Daly

Established in 1991, the William J. Donlon Special  Achievement Award is given to those individuals who, in the judgment of the Varsity Club Hall of Fame Selection Committee, have demonstrated uncommon dedication and performed supererogatory service to Boston College athletics, both on and off the fields of play. The award is named in honor of Reverend William J. Donlon '31, in recognition of more than sixty years participation, service, and devotion.

Ken Daly has been the indefatigable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic ambassador of the sport of Rugby to Boston College since 1968. During that time he has introduced and taught this venerable game to more than 1,500 students - coaching them in more than 2,100 games while winning better than 70 percent of those contests. Not only is Ken Daly the "Founding Coach" to both the men's and women's rugby clubs, he has developed the sport to a championship caliber at the University. The Boston College Women's Team has played in the National Championship three times, winning in 1992; five Eagle players have earned All-America honors.

Expert in his game, respected by his peers and admired by his student-athletes, Ken Daly represents the highest ideals of Boston College, which prides itself on the Jesuit credo of "service to others".

Inducted into the Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
